The shaver features a GyroFlex 3D shaving system consisting of three floating dynamic parts that move independently of each other. On each part is mounted a rotary shaving head. When shaving, each of these flex outward, bend on either side, or tilt inward depending on the contour of your face the shaver is pressed against. This means that pressure against your skin is never too harsh thus preventing irritation.
Further assuring an irritation-free shave is the low-friction shaving surface of the heads. Call SkinGlide, the heads are given a special finish that allows them to slide smoothly over your skin.
Each of the shaving heads, dubbed UltraTrack, has three specialized shaving tracks. The outer track or slot is designed for hairs of normal length, while the middle track is for long hairs. The innermost track consists of small round holes where short stubbles fall into and are cut as close to the skin as possible. Underneath the tracks is a hair chamber that collects cut hair.
To assure a truly close shave, the Philips Norelco 1290x/40 is equipped with the patented Super Lift&Cut dual blade system, wherein the first blade is angled in a way that instead of cutting hairs, it merely lifts them up. Before it begins to hurt, however, the second blade quickly cuts them.
You can shave with the Philips Norelco 1290x-40 SensoTouch 3D Electric Shaver whether you are on the go or in the shower. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery so you need not plug it into an electric outlet to use it. Protected by the AquaTec seal, water will not seep into it when used for a wet shave with cream or gel.
