It has an Aquatec seal that effectively keeps water out of its motor and electrical mechanisms. This allows you to shave wet with foam or gel, thus providing your skin with an extra layer of protection from rashes and irritation. Of course, you can always use it dry while being chauffeured to work, or while at work.
The shaver has three flexible shaving heads that freely pivots and automatically adjusts to the contours of your chin, cheeks, and neck. Dubbed the SmartPivot System, this eases pressure on your skin without reducing the shaver's effectiveness in cutting your facial hair. This, too, helps prevent damage to your skin. Also, the heads are rounded to minimize friction generated while shaving, further minimizing skin irritation.
Featuring DualPrecision shaving system, the shaver easily cuts both long hairs and short stubbles, while its Lift and Cut technology lifts hairs before cutting them. This is done with two blades, with the first doing the lifting to expose a portion of the hair that is normally hidden under the skin, while the cutting is done by a second blade. The result is an extremely close shave.
Apart from shaving, the Philips Norelco AT830 PowerTouch Razor also trims your moustache, beard, and sideburns with its pop-up trimmer. It is mounted at the back of the shaver, and can be brought out of its niche with a little push.
The shaver is powered by a rechargeable battery allowing you to use it without cords. When fully charged, the battery can run the shaver for 50 minutes. It takes an hour to reach full charge when starting from full drain. If you cannot wait 50 minutes, a three-minute quick charge will suffice for a single shave.
Because it is waterproof, you can clean the AT830 by running clean tap water through it. However, if you want a more thorough cleaning, you can use the supplied cleaning brush.
